CODSwitch Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 6, 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Tiavola Solutions (“Tiavola”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and protects information when Shopify merchants install or use CODSwitch: COD Fees & Rules (“CODSwitch” or the “App”).
Tiavola is the developer and provider of CODSwitch. For privacy questions or requests, contact info@tiavola.com.
2. Scope and our role
This policy applies to information processed through CODSwitch, including merchant account information, App configuration, subscription status, and the limited checkout information needed to apply the merchant’s cash-on-delivery rules.
Shopify processes information independently under its own privacy terms. A merchant is generally responsible for its customers’ personal information and for configuring the App lawfully. Where CODSwitch processes customer information on a merchant’s instructions, Tiavola acts as a service provider or processor, as applicable.
3. Information we process
CODSwitch processes only the information reasonably needed to operate the App:
| Information | Examples | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Merchant and shop account data | Shop domain and, when supplied by Shopify, authorized user ID, name, email, and locale | Authenticate the merchant, maintain sessions, provide support, and protect the App |
| App configuration | Payment-method and shipping-rate names; order thresholds; product, collection, and tag selections; discount codes; country, province, city, and postcode rules | Save and apply the merchant’s COD visibility and fee-related rules |
| Subscription information | Shopify plan handle, subscription status and ID, and relevant timestamps | Confirm access to paid App features and administer billing through Shopify |
| Checkout rule inputs | Cart totals, selected products and collections, product tags, discounts, selected delivery option, available payment methods, and delivery country, province, city, and postcode | Evaluate whether COD should be shown or hidden for the current checkout |
| Technical information | Request, error, security, and diagnostic logs | Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the App |
CODSwitch does not collect payment-card or bank-account details. The App does not intentionally store buyer names, buyer email addresses, buyer phone numbers, full street addresses, or order records in its application database. Checkout rule inputs are evaluated through Shopify’s platform to apply the merchant’s configuration and are not used by Tiavola to create buyer profiles.
4. How we use information
We use information to:
- Install, authenticate, operate, and maintain CODSwitch.
- Save merchant settings and apply COD visibility rules at checkout.
- Link COD availability to eligible shipping rates so merchants can configure shipping charges that account for the cost of offering COD.
- Verify App subscription status and provide access to paid features.
- Respond to support requests and diagnose technical issues.
- Prevent abuse, protect the App, and comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell personal information or use App information for third-party advertising.
5. Legal bases and merchant responsibilities
Depending on the applicable law, we process information to perform our contract with the merchant, pursue legitimate interests in operating and securing the App, comply with legal obligations, or based on consent where required.
Merchants are responsible for providing any notices and obtaining any permissions required for their use of CODSwitch. Merchants must configure COD fees, shipping rates, and checkout rules clearly and in accordance with applicable consumer, pricing, tax, and privacy laws.
6. Sharing and service providers
We disclose information only as needed to provide and protect CODSwitch:
- Shopify: for authentication, APIs, Shopify Functions, checkout customizations, and Shopify-managed app billing.
- Heroku: for application hosting and infrastructure.
- Neon: for managed PostgreSQL database services.
- Professional advisers and authorities: when reasonably necessary for legal, accounting, security, or compliance purposes, or when required by law.
We do not share App information with third parties for their own marketing.
7. International processing
Tiavola and its service providers may process information in countries other than the country where the merchant or buyer is located. Where applicable law requires it, we use appropriate contractual or other safeguards for international data transfers.
8. Retention and deletion
We retain merchant account and App configuration information while the App is installed and for only as long afterward as reasonably needed for support, security, dispute resolution, and legal compliance.
When CODSwitch is uninstalled or Shopify sends an applicable shop-erasure request, the App deletes its active shop sessions and stored configuration. Shopify-hosted information remains subject to Shopify’s retention practices. Limited logs and backups may remain for a short period before they are deleted or overwritten, unless retention is legally required.
Because CODSwitch does not intentionally store buyer personal information in its application database, customer data requests generally must be directed first to the Shopify merchant that collected the information.
9. Privacy rights and requests
Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, or objection to processing, and to complain to a privacy regulator. You may also withdraw consent where consent is the basis for processing.
Merchants may submit requests directly to info@tiavola.com. Buyers should normally contact the Shopify merchant where they placed or attempted an order. Shopify may then send the applicable privacy request to CODSwitch through its mandatory privacy webhooks.
We may ask for information needed to verify a request and locate the relevant shop record.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including encrypted connections, access controls, protected application secrets, and operational monitoring. No internet transmission or storage method is completely secure.
11. Children
CODSwitch is a business application for Shopify merchants and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly use the App to collect personal information directly from children.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as CODSwitch or applicable requirements change. We will revise the “Last updated” date on this page and provide additional notice when required by law.
